Anna Marie Pulaski

Owner / Executive Director

In 1977 Anna Marie Iatarola Pulaski and her husband Bill Pulaski along with their daughter Elizabeth Ann started Anna Marie's Academy of Dance. Always a resident of Tacony, Anna Marie wanted to open her business here. She is a graduate of St. Hubert High School in 1958 and is a member of the Alumnae Assoc. She received the distinguished graduate award in 2000. Since 1984 she has co-ordinated the St. Hubert Dance club and is the executive director of the fall musicals. She also lectures bi-annually at the University of the Arts pertaining to the business of dancing schools.

Anna Marie's mission statement is to raise the standards of the neighborhood dancing schools by providing her students with a teaching staff that have degrees in dance and are professional performers to bring the art of dance to its highest standards.

Paula deSandes Minacci

Artistic Director

Paula Minacci began her dancing career when she was six years of age at Harkness House Ballet in New York until she was fifteen. She received her BFA in Modern Dance at the University of the Arts. As artistic director of the Elysian Dance Company, her choreography has been performed at many dance theaters in the area. She has been with Anna Marie's Academy of Dance for 26 years. She is a resident choreographer for many Philadelphia and North & South Jersey High Schools.

Teddy Fatscher

Teacher - Intermediate/Advanced Jazz 

Teddy Fatscher was born and raised in Massapequa, Long Island. After attending Long Island High School for the Arts and graduating he moved to Philadelphia to further his studies at the University of the Arts and to make a name for himself. Today Teddy is the Artistic Director of Matter Movement Group. He possess a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance Performance and Choreography from The University of the Arts. He has danced professionally for companies such as MOMIX and Brian Sanders' JUNK for the last 9 years. His performances have reached all over Philadelphia and the U.S. as well as taking him to Dubai to perform for National Emirates Day celebrations. While working for the aforementioned JUNK Teddy was given creative agency to invent vocabulary of movement that the company performed in previous Fringe Festival works and other touring shows. He also Co-Directs a resident performance group, Bradley's Bucks, at Franky Bradley's.

Elise Mele 

Teacher - Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Ballet and Jazz

Born in New Jersey, Elise Mele is a dancer and choreographer in the Philadelphia area. Elise graduated from Drexel University in 2016 where she had the honor of working with choreographers such as Olive Prince, Lindsay Browning, Tania Isaac, Leah Stein, Jennifer Morely, and many more. Elise also had the opportunity to work with Philadelphia Dance artist Gina Hoch-Stall and her company Real Live People. In 2015 Elise was apart of the “BREAK OUT Italy” Dance Program where she traveled to Italy with Damage Dance and Amalgamate Dance Company and performed works by both companies. Upon graduation Elise performed works with Olive Prince Dance, Contempra Dance, Bradley Bucks & Nickerson Rossi Dance. Elise continues to perform professionally with dance companies Nickerson-Rossi Dance and Matter Movement Dance. Though performance is where Elise is most experienced she also has hopes of exploring the directive and choreographic field. In 2016 Elise self-produced her own performance "Truth Be Told" in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.  As a choreographer, Elise uses dance performance as a source of her exploration in theoretical thinking based off experiences that we tend to overlook, the in betweens and “nitty grittiness.” Elise hopes to continue to grow as an artist, dancer, teacher and choreographer as she explores the opportunities that arise in her journey.

 

 

Kelly Trevlyn

Teacher - Intermediate/Advanced Jazz, Ballet

Kelly began her dance training at the Rock School West in West Chester, PA studying all styles from classical ballet to hip hop.  She then attended Point Park University to further her education and graduated with a BA in dance in 2013.  During her time at Point Park, Kelly had the opportunity to perform original works by Sidra Bell, Christopher Huggins, Garfield Lemonius, Ron Tassone, and Patrick Franz, as well as explore her own choreographic ideas.  She has also had the opportunity to train under The Joffrey School, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Koresh Dance Company and River North Dance Chicago. Upon graduating, Kelly joined Dissonance Dance Theatre and Deviated Theatre as a company member in Washington, DC.  She joined Brian Sanders’ JUNK in 2014 and has since been performing locally and around the country. Along with JUNK, she performs with Matter Movement Group, Gunnar Montana, Nickerson-Rossi Dance and other local artists of the Philadelphia area including Bradleys’ Bucks and Laura Jenkins (Pink Hair Affair)

Kayla Lakos
CR II

Kayla Lakos started her dance training at the age of 5 at Miss Pats School of Dance. In 2011, Kayla then switched danced studios and started dancing at Anna Marie’s, where she was part of the Elysián Dance Company for 6 years. Throughout the past 13 years Kayla also was a part of the Young Performers Theater Camp as a dancer from 2011 to 2015. Kayla also attended the Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush for high school where she majored in dance. After Kayla finished her freshman year of college, she decided she wanted to come home and be a help to the Anna Marie’s family by becoming one of the creative rhythm teachers alongside Paula Minnaci and Cynthia Matos. Kayla hopes to one day open her own dance studio to give young kids a chance to learn the beautiful art of dance. 

Stephanie Dignam 
Tap 

Is a former member of the Elysian Dance Company (1987 - 1989) and has been tap dancing since the age of three. She earned her Master's Degree from Holy Family University in early childhood education and currently teaches as St. Matthew's Catholic School. Stephanie has taken many master tap classes at the University of the Arts and has taught tap dancing at Anna Marie's from 1994 - 2013. She is very happy to be teaching tap again at Anna Marie's.
